Berger Mesiano Win Pittsgrove Primary, Beat Rival in Own District
Matthew Berger and Nicholas Mesiano have won their Pittsgrove Township Committee primary run.
Berger is known for being a contributor to Pittsgrove recreation, and works in technology at Lockheed Martin.
Nicholas Mesiano is founder of Save Pittsgrove, recently stopping a truck traffic project in Salem County.
In June 10th's primary election, Berger & Mesiano won all of their own districts in sweeping victories.
The duo's votes surpassed their rival Henry Papiano even in his own District 5:
Papiano's District 5, encompasses an area around Parvin Mill Road. This road is know for a hot button issue where truck traffic is leaving neighbors outraged.
A county study shows truck traffic exploded on District 5's Parvin Mill Road to nearly 500 trucks per week, accounting for a jaw-dropping 7.2% of all traffic.
It's no wonder why Papiano's own neighbors don't support him: he wants to make their problem worse.
Deaf to the outrage, Henry Papiano attended planning board meetings in favor of a project to bring hundreds more trucks per day:
Despite his comment to 'push for restrictions', Papiano has been noticeably absent at local meetings to discuss truck traffic issues.
Neither Papino nor running mate Eric Harz attended the majorly important commissioner vote against the trash truck import project on May 29th.
The only meeting Papiano did attend in Pittsgrove, he left 15 minutes before it even began.
Eric Harz was notably absent from his own primary ballot, because his paperwork was submitted late and could not be officially registered.
Thankfully, several Pittsgrove residents, including Nicholas Mesiano, have picked up the slack in keeping the Township a small town, rural place.
Seen above, Mesiano is posing with the undefeated legal team who have now twice shut down Giordano's plan to drive 150+ trash trucks per day across Salem County.
While Mesiano and Berger may have won the primary, they still trailed by a small amount of votes in districts 1, 2, and 3:
"I will keep Pittsgrove a small town, rural place forever." remarked Mesiano, "Matt (Berger) is an expert fighter jet finance guy who loves Greenbranch Park and can balance our out-of-control budget".
"Matt says fix Greenbranch and no tax increases. I agree with him. If you want good administration thats why we are running. We show up."
If not enough votes are received in November for Berger and Mesiano, Eric Harz will remain in his committee chair and Henry Papiano will become in charge of the township vacancy. This is a scary thought for his neighbors in District 5.
Its up to Pittsgrove voters now to get active, get their friends and families to vote in November.
